Believe in yourself : Mixed Media Canvas

Someone rightly said, "Necessity is the mother of invention".

I was out of clay, white gesso etc and had no sea shells with me. I wanted sea shells for my project and started exploring options on what can be done. I came across a recipe for homemade clay and wanted to give it a try. And voila! He made clay with excellent results.

I made my own set of shells and an octopus using this clay(you can check the pics for the making process collage attached)

Next for the color theme I wanted white gesso, which again I had ran out! Made this too at home and used it to prime my Canvas( Had ran out of this too hence used a sweet box for the same 😁) So now you know, why the sentiment added is "Believe". Because, if you believe you can, you will 😊

I am in love with this mixed media canvas I made and proud of it actually. Be it the colors, be it the elements used, be it the layout, you name it and I love it all 😁🙈 It doesnt happen every day for me. There is one thing or the other I always have a problem about in my work. Yes, I am my biggest critic🙈

Glass Bottle Decoupage

A glass jar upcycled to a beautiful flower vase using decoupage napkin 🤩

Started off with a base of mixed media paste as I wanted se texture to the surface, followed by decoupage and adding few embellishments to finish off the project. Added some of the beautiful flowers that I had in stock to make it a complete beauty 😍 

I am really happy with this as I am getting a hang of my own ways to get the perfect decoupage done without wrinkles even with a napkin🥰

Upcycled Tissue Box

Heard of tissue box upcycling? 😁 Here is what I did to my tissue box 😊

Lots of stenciling, embellishments, sentiments and some lovely rustic metallic paints and waxes. And TADAA! 

I always make some story for my project works, for this what was behind my mind was how love and hope are the absolute essentials in front role of our lives, how important peace and blessings are to us. 

The gears at the back side shows how belief and dream churns out to bring out the best in us. And ultimately with all these support systems how we should spread positivity in this world with a smile 😇

I thought some positivity will help us with the current grave situation of covid- 19!

Floral wreath with Name

A floral wreath with name has always been on my to-do list and I am thrilled that I got to make one so beautiful 😍💕

A friend of mine approached me for this to be made for her baby's first birthday 😊 This will be  shipped all the way to Mumbai to reach its cute owner "Aarvika"  whom I call Ladoo, coz she is one super cute doll😍

I wanted it to be classy and elegant and I am thoroughly pleased with the outcome 😇♥️

Upcycled Phone cover

Bored of the usual boring phone cover?

Upcycle!!

My phone case never stay in good shape for long, thanks to my baby who is fond of throwing my phone and thanks to him my screen is also cracked! I had my old phone case which came free with the phone laying around and I don't use it coz it's boring! And today finally I did it 😍

I thought it will be fun to have the phone case to have a crackle effect to match my screen 😝

 And hence went ahead with this and did a decoupage with decoupage napkin. I sprinkled some fairy dust to give that additional sparkle to it coz I loved it in my fairy project 🙈

And I am in love with my new phone cover 🥳

Everyday is a gift - Mixed Media layout

Mother nature is restoring her beauty back with spring season making its entry😍 

When Corona is keeping us all inside home, the one good thing it is doing is taking us back to our roots, Mother Nature. The air around is way less polluted. We listen to birds happily chirping away 🐦 Beautiful butterflies having thier sweet time with the endless options of newly bloomed flowers🥰🦋

We are getting closer to nature with each passing day 😇 And we realise that "Everyday is a Gift" 😇

My project here is trying to showcase the vibrant colours of spring and the beautiful flowers and butterflies that comes with it 😍

I made this mixed media layout using various mediums and techniques . The main element here is the resin embellishment from @archana.sehgal 

I primed it with gesso, then coated it with chalk paints and metalic waxes of my choice. For more detailing on face I used 3D liners. Beneath this element I added a layer of golden and beige husk to give an additional texture to my project.

Did some stenciling with mixed media paste to give 3D effects. Different kinds of flowers from handmade paper flowers, formarian flowers, fussy cut printed flowers, satin flowers with metallic stamen etc. The next major element in the project are the butterflies 🦋🦋

I decoupaged few of them to the base using decoupage tissue sheets, some fussy cut peper ones and few metalic ones 😁

No mixed media project is complete without the deco stones and I love the texture it gives to the projects. I colored them using splash colours first and then a touch of gold to give a glam effect.

When I look at this project, I can surely feel the spring  🥰
